Following your pre-surgery instructions is an important part of ensuring a comfortable and safe experience with IV sedation. Please review these guidelines carefully before your appointment and contact our office if you have any questions or concerns.
Before your oral surgery, please follow these instructions:

- Avoid smoking for at least 12 hours before surgery. Reducing or stopping smoking as early as possible before your procedure is recommended.
- A responsible adult must accompany you to the appointment, remain at the office during your procedure, and drive you home afterward.
- Do not drive, operate machinery, or make important decisions for 24 hours following anesthesia.
- Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing with sleeves that can easily be rolled above the elbow, along with low-heeled shoes.
- Remove contact lenses, jewelry, and dentures before your procedure.
- Avoid wearing lipstick, heavy makeup, or nail polish on the day of surgery.
- Notify our office if you are experiencing any illness, including a cold, sore throat, stomach issues, or other symptoms before your appointment.
- If you take regular medications, please consult with Dr. Humes before your surgery date for specific instructions.
