In New York City, he went to Columbia University, where he obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree and Master of Public Health degree. In Halifax, Nova Scotia, he received his Bachelor of Science degree
Dr. Humes has served as lecturer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Michigan. He was also Clinical Fellow in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Cornell Medical Center in New York City. He performed his anesthesia training at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and at the University Hospital in San Antonio Texas, he underwent his general surgery Internship. He received his certification in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Texas health science center in San Antonio.
He has conducted numerous research presentations on dental implants, facial trauma, and facial reconstruction throughout the United States.
